There are women who learned to stay quiet.
Not because they had nothing to say…
but because speaking came with consequences.
So they adapted.
They held their words.
They softened their presence.
They became careful with what they revealed.
But inside…
nothing was small.
There were stories. Memories.Truths that had nowhere to go.
An entire ocean — deep, layered, alive.
Calm on the surface…
but carrying more than anyone could see.
They were called quiet.
Reserved. Withdrawn.
But what the world could not hear was not silence.
It was restraint.
It was awareness.
It was survival.
And so, they found other ways.
Through color. Through pattern. Through presence.
They spoke — without words.
This piece is for those women.
The ones who carry everything…
and still remain standing. If this resonates, it’s because you understand that:
some voices are never loud —
but they are never absent.
Silence was safer 2
